Jetton Trails Approved

Last night I attended the monthly meeting of the Charlotte/Mecklenburg Park and Recreation Board of Commissioners at the Park and Rec building on Hwy 16. At this meeting we received the final approval to construct a trail system in Jetton II, in Cornelius. The 19 acre parcel sits across the street from the entrance to Jetton Park. Considering the size of the parcel and our rule of thumb of 1 mile/10 acres, it looks as if we may be able to scratch out 1.5 – 2 miles of beginner friendly, neighborhood trail. While the length will not make the park a true destination for most riders, the fact that we will be working toward constructing the first handicap accessible trails will make this a very unique arrangement.

Special thanks to Edward Autry for attending the meeting with me. Edward was instrumental in the construction of Fisher Farm and will hopefully play an active role with me at Jetton.

As always the commissioners were very complimentary of our club, sighting us being an exceptional community workforce, something that all members should be proud of!
