Sherman Branch Park ? A First Look

I met with Jerry Adams, Jacob Burns (PASA) and Doug Slack (who was instrumental in the original construction of the trails at Col. Francis Beatty) this evening for our first look at Sherman Branch Park.

WOW!

Jerry and unsung hero Steve Kiker have done a tremendous job, forging almost 1.5 miles of trail in about a month’s time…Jerry gave us a tour of the new singletrack, then we rode to the area where we hope to work with Jacob and PASA to construct a more advanced, technical section of trail…We circled the park via fire road and the possibilities appear to be endless…Keep in mind that this parcel of land (+/- 210 acres) approximates Catawba in size.

Hats off to Jerry for his persistence in procuring this parcel of land (it has been a roller coaster journey) and to both he and Steve for their efforts to get the site opened to riders in the near future...It's great to see Doug's face again, as he has been spending time raisiing his kids over the past several years...Doug will be stepping up to assist Jerry and Steve on the project...

Yes folks, the future is indeed bright!
