Latest News

The Tarheel Trailblazers Member and Trail User Survey is now open and seeking opinions of mountain bikers to help shape our club, the trails we build, and the activities and projects in which we engage for years to come. You do not need to be a member of the club to complete the survey. Between November 20 and December 28, anyone who rides our mountain bike trails is encouraged to take the survey.
The survey may only be taken once per person and answers will be anonymous. Tarheel Trailblazers will own the data and use it to guide its efforts. A summary of the findings will be presented at the club meeting February 7, and will be made available online after that date.

Trail Work Schedule

Renaissance Park
Time: 1/12/2019
Location: Meet on the lower lot at the old baseball fields
Other Info: Projects will include: The always fun spreading of crush to armor the trail Re establishing drains finishing a new berm(trail was cut in this past weekend) making a passing line on the furthest section of trail coming up from the creek (should only be minor mccloud work, packing, and then crushing using the bobcat to cut the drain at the bottom of the 2018 new downhill line and a roller at the bottom of this line to help with drainage Crush on the 2018 new climb a few spots need to be bench-cut and back slopped.

Signal Hill
Time: 1/19/19 8:30-3:00
Location: pump track
Other Info: Hey, folks! We've got a trail workday at Signal Hill in Statesville on January 19th from 8:30-3:00. Will be working on cutting back and rerouting some problem areas, clearing drains and and spreading gravel. Meet at the pump track.

Ballantyne District Park
Time: 1/12/19 9:00 am
Location: parking lot
Other Info: All this rain has taken a serious toll on the flow loop at Ballantyne, so we're throwing a work party, complete with hotdogs and beer! Bring gloves and water and meet near the shed below the pavilion. With enough hands we can knock out the flow loop and address a punch list of items on the new black diamond loop. Bring a bike and we can get some laps in if the weather cooperates.

Mountain Island Lake Trail
Time: 9:00 to 2:00 1-26-19
Location: Mt Holly
Other Info: EVERYBODY LOVES TO BUILD A BRIDGE. MILT has two that need to be built. The poles are there and just need to moved in place. We also have a bunch of rough cut trail ready to be cleared and finished. When: 9:00 to 2:00 on Saturday 1-26-19 (May also meet again on Sunday 1-27-19 if there is interest) Where: We will meet at 9:00 am at the start of the greenway entrance at the base of Mountain Island Lake Dam. If you come late you will need to walk (or bike ride) down to the first bridge, which is appox. 1/2 mile from the gate on the greenway. Check forum post (Down and Dirty) for detailed location. What to Bring: Gloves and water, Tools will be provided (unless you have your own favorite trail tool), additional cordless power tools to help with the bridges are always appreciated. Lunch and drinks will be provided. ANY HELP IS ALWAYS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
